ANNE AND WOUTER HOUSE

Anna and Wouter envisioned a home that would sit lightly on the hillside, preserving the natural landscape and minimizing environmental disruption. In response, the design follows the principles of a traditional Balinese compound, with two pavilions carefully positioned to respect the site’s contours and existing coconut trees. Elevated on stilts, the house allows for natural water flow, reduces ground disturbance, and enhances ventilation. Reclaimed teak wood, clay roof tiles, and a steel structure reflect a commitment to sustainability and material reuse. The layout maximizes views of the surrounding valley, ensuring each space enjoys an uninterrupted connection with nature. This home beautifully merges traditional craftsmanship with modern, eco-conscious techniques.
